Life Legacy


Russell E. Templeton was born on March 29, 1947, to Alfred and Virginia Templeton and passed away at home on Monday, August 1, 2011.


His early years were in San Francisco. He was six years old when the family moved to Sunnyvale. When he was seven he met his future bride, the young Jan Byler. Russ graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1968. In August of 1968 he married Jan, and they headed to University of California, Davis where he studied law, graduating in 1971.


Russ began his law practice in Susanville, before moving to Fresno in 1972.


In 1982 he entered fulltime ministry as the Fresno director of the Christian Conciliation Service. He returned to law practice in the mid 80's, continuing to practice estate planning until his retirement in 2008.


He is survived by Jan Templeton, his wife of nearly 43 years; son, Joseph Templeton; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Peter Fear; grandchildren, Hannah, Daniel, Caleb, Abigail, and Samuel; and brother, Jon Templeton.


A Memorial Service will be held in the G.L. Johnson Chapel at Peoples Church, on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
